Attorney James M. Steinwinder represents clients in the energy, financial services and healthcare industries. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Steinwinder spent over seven years as Assistant Attorney General in the Attorney General´s Office for the State of Alabama. He worked closely with the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and other State and Federal agencies. While serving as Assistant Attorney General, Mr. Steinwinder was appointed as the Antitrust Section Chief for Civil and General Litigation. He managed the Attorney General Office´s cases involving energy, securities, antitrust and multi-district and multi-agency litigation. He led global financial crimes investigations involving complex securities, bonds, LIBOR, and Wall Street litigation, and secured substantial settlements for the State of Alabama. He led a global investigation into wholesale and retail petroleum price fixing and secured the largest petroleum price gouging settlement in Alabama State history. He also represented the Attorney General at the Federal Trade Commission economic panels on price gouging, natural disasters and government response. He participated in rulemaking and regulatory compliance for new medicaid healthcare delivery structure and was responsible for managing MSA enforcement and litigation. Mr. Steinwinder holds an LL.M in International Trade & Commercial Law, from Durham University, Durham England, and earned his Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law, where he was on the Dean´s List and Scholar of Merit. He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.
